Der European Social Survey (ESS) ist eine europaweite, vergleichende, sozialwissenschaftliche Stu-die mit höchstem methodischem Anspruch, welche die gesellschaftlichen, politischen, wirtschaftlichen und moralischen Einstellungen und Verhaltensweisen der Bevölkerung verschiedener europäischer Länder vergleicht und analysiert. Die Studie wird seit 2002 alle zwei Jahre durchgeführt und von der Hauptgeschäftsstelle des ESS ERIC (City St Georges, University of London) verantwortet. Bei dem hier ausgeschriebenen Studienteil handelt es sich um die nationale Erhebung des ESS in Deutschland. Für die Ausgestaltung und Auftragsvergabe dieses Studienteils ist das GESIS - Leibniz-Institut für Sozialwissenschaften verantwortlich.
