Tender alert services compared

Most tender alert services are national. That is the single biggest thing to understand when comparing them: a service covering US federal work will not tell you about a German solicitation, and vice versa. If you bid in one market, pick the best national tool. If you bid across markets, you are usually paying two subscriptions and reconciling them by hand.

What actually differs between services

• Jurisdiction. The main axis. US federal (SAM.gov-derived), EU (TED-derived), UK, or a single country's portal.
• Data source. Almost all of them index the same official public sources. What you pay for is filtering, alerting and interface - not exclusive data.
• Access model. Self-serve signup versus quote-and-demo. This usually predicts price more reliably than features do.
• Intelligence versus notification. Some products predict and analyse; others tell you what was published. These are different products at very different prices.

Questions worth asking before paying

• Which jurisdictions does it actually cover, and does that match where you bid?
• Can I see the data before paying, or is there a demo gate?
• Does it alert on *open* opportunities, or does the feed include already-awarded contracts? (This matters more than it sounds - most raw procurement data is historical awards.)
• Is there an API, if you want the data in your own systems?
