Die Planung setzt sich aus 2 Bestandteilen und 2 optionalen Bestandteilen zusammen: Bestandteil "a": Der vorhandene Verkehrsknoten ist aufgrund der unzureichenden Leistungsfähigkeit so auszubauen, dass er eine mindestens ausreichende Qualitätsstufe (Qualitätsstufe "D") für die prognostizierten Verkehrsmengen gewährleistet. Einzubeziehen sind die notwendigen Anlagen für den Radverkehr und den Fußverkehr. Zudem ist für Bestandteil "a" ggfs. eine Fiktivplanung durchzuführen. Bestandteil "b": Der zu beplanende Bereich schließt neben dem Knotenpunkt im engeren Sinne Richtung Westen auch die a. 230 m lange Strecke bis zum Anschluss an das bis ca. 35m östlich des Durchlasses des Mühlenbachs bereits vierstreifig ausgebaute Teilstück der B 56 (Anpassungsstrecke). Bestandteil "c" (optional): Planung einer planfreien Querung für den Radverkehr (Variante mit Tunnel). Teil des optionalen Bestandteils ist die verkehrstechnische Planung der Tunnelvariante).
