Veranlassung und Zielsetzung: Im Süden der Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden befindet sich der Entwicklungsbereich der städtebaulichen Entwicklungsmaßnahme Ostfeld. Das rund 450 Hektar große Areal ist als langfristige Entwicklungsfläche der Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden definiert und soll sowohl für den Wohnungsbau als auch für Dienstleistungs- und Gewerbenutzungen städtebaulich entwickelt werden. Rund 100 Hektar des Areals sind für eine Siedlungs- und Gewerbeentwicklung in einer städtebaulich integrierten Lage mit Anschluss an bestehende Infrastrukturen umzusetzen. Der übrige Teil wird als Landschaftsraum verbleiben. Innerhalb des rd. 80 ha großen Geltungsbereichs des geplanten Bebauungsplans ist der Neu- und Ausbau von Straßen und Wegen, die Errichtung eines Umspannwerks, die Bebauung eines rd. 33 ha großen Baufeldes sowie verschiedene Maßnahmen des Naturschutzes und der Landschaftspflege vorgesehen.
