Description
The Green Municipalities II Project aims to improve the climate efficiency of Algerian local authorities, with a particular focus on reducing energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and energy-related costs, while improving the quality and sustainability of municipal services. The project supports Algerian local authorities in strengthening their technical, institutional and operational capacities in the fields of municipal energy management, energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable urban services. It combines capacity building, technical assistance, digital tools and the implementation of practical pilot measures to enable municipalities to improve their energy performance and adopt more sustainable management practices. Particular attention is given to the main energy-consuming sectors within municipalities, including public lighting, schools, mosques, administrative buildings, green spaces and other public facilities.
