Przedmiotem konkursu jest przebudowa ulic, placów i zieleńców w rejonie Mariensztatu. Przewodnią ideą inwestycji jest uatrakcyjnienie przestrzeni Mariensztatu i jego najbliższego otoczenia. Planowana przebudowa ma posłużyć poprawie jakości i dostępności przestrzeni publicznej oraz ułatwieniu komunikacji pieszej i rowerowej. Zadanie postawione przed uczestnikami konkursu polega na zaproponowaniu przyszłego wizerunku, formy zagospodarowania i sposobu funkcjonowania zespołu ulic, placów i skwerów, które będą stanowiły nowoczesną odpowiedź na aktualne i przyszłe wyzwania dla przestrzeni publicznych na obszarze Historycznego Centrum Warszawy. Teren objęty inwestycją położony jest w Warszawie w obszarze Powiśla i Starego Miasta i obejmuje plac pod wiaduktem pomiędzy ulicami Grodzką i Nowy Zjazd, Rynek Mariensztacki z przylegającymi ulicami: Źródłową, Boczną, Krzywopoboczną, Mariensztat, Garbarska, Białoskórnicza; ul.
