Die Aachener Kreuz Merzbrück GmbH & Co. KG entwickelt am Standort Merzbrück auf rund 80 Hektar Gewerbeflächen für ein innovatives Aviation-Cluster und verantwortet damit ein bedeutsames Strukturwandelprojekt im Rheinischen Revier. Der AeroPark richtet sich an die etablierte Luftfahrtindustrie, insbesondere in den Bereichen Antriebstechnologien, nachhaltige Materialien und klimaneutrale Luftfahrt, sowie an Start-ups, Scale-ups und den innovativen Mittelstand. Technologietransfer und Fachkräftepotenzial sichern vor allem die RWTH Aachen, die FH Aachen, das Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionstechnologie (IPT), das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) und das Forschungszentrum Jülich. Bis 2035 sollen mehrere tausend neue Arbeitsplätze entstehen. Das Plangebiet liegt am östlichen Rand des Würselener Stadtgebiets nördlich des Autobahnkreuzes Aachen (A 4/A 44/A 544).
